Ion Color Brilliance Brights Review
If you keep up with my blog at all you’ll know that for my
daughter’s 16th birthday I dyed her hair. The goal was to get it as
pink and purple as we could. She has a relaxer in her hair so I didn’t use
bleach to lighten it (the goal was to color her hair not melt it off).
What I did instead was use a blonde color to lift some of
the darkness out of her hair. So I took her from a dark brown to this...
I could have gone lighter but you live and you learn. We
chose not to dye all of her hair and strategically placed it so she can part
her hair to show as little or as much of the pink as she wanted to.
I then went in with
Ion Color Brilliance Brights in Purple and Fuchsia. I did purple on the bottom and Fuchsia
on top.
Here is the final look…
Now here are my thoughts good and bad about Ion Color
Brilliance Brights.
The Bad:
The product is VERY thick. There for if you aren’t
careful and make sure all of the hair is coated, you’re going to have spots
without color. Thankfully I watched a lot of reviews on YouTube and found this
out ahead of time. So I made sure to coat her hair top to bottom over and under
(if that makes sense). In having to do this, I ended up using a lot of the
product. I used half of the purple and 1 and a half of the Fuchsia.
The other thing I did not like was the Purple didn’t show
up… AT ALL. In fact it turned her hair black. Where I applied the Purple it
came out literally darker than her natural hair color. I was bummed out by that
but hey, at least I applied it under the Fuchsia.
The good:
The color is affordable (around $5 at Sally’s). There is no
peroxide or ammonia so you don’t have to worry about damaging your hair. You
use it straight out of the tube so you don’t have to worry about mixing
anything.
Since I didn’t lighten her hair enough she didn’t end up
with Fuchsia hair but she absolutely loves the color she did get.
So now it’s my turn. However, I think I’ll wait until the
end of summer to dye my hair. This is a semi-permanent and I plan on spending a
lot of time at the beach.
s/n: I went with this product because when I first graduated
from beauty school I went to the beauty convention in Las Vegas and I remember
the representatives from Ion were amazing and I ended up trying out a slew of
their red hair dyes and absolutely LOVED them.
Your daughter is beautiful. Love how her hair came out, it looks fab. I love the ION colors. I always used them when I did my hair, my moms and friends hair. Happy 16th to your daughter.

Thank you! I really do like Ion. They make good products.
DeleteUse conditioner in your Ion next time. (Very late, but still!) Thats how I have been doing it- and the purple actually came out purple on my hair! It doesnt dilute, suprisingly, and makes that tube go much further. It came out very cute, though! Fuschia is definitely her color.
