Being Good to Others This Holiday Season | #12DaysOfBlogmas
This time of year can be hard for some people. You just
never know what someone is going through in their own personal lives. Sure on
Facebook and Instagram everything is smiling over a cup of coffee, kissing
under mistletoe and hauling it up at their favorite clothing store. But what
happens behind the scenes? Behind the pretty filters and happy hash tags?
I’ve learned that some times people are genuinely happy and
other times it’s all a façade. Holidays are about spending time with loved ones
and reflecting on the year that is almost over. Not everyone has someone to
spend the holidays with and not everyone has the money to spend on holiday festivities.
I guarantee a few people you know have had a pretty shitty year.
Now I’m not trying to be all preachy or anything but
wouldn’t it feel amazing to spread your own holiday cheer? It wouldn’t take
much to give to someone less fortunate and it doesn’t have to be of monetary
value. You can spend time with someone that may be lonely. You can call a
friend you haven’t spoken to in a while and just listen to them talk about how
they’re doing and just make it all about them. Volunteer your time at a
homeless shelter or a nursing home.
What ever it is that you do this season I hope it comes from
the heart and makes not only you happy but others as well. We can all tend to
forget the true meaning of the holidays and I think the world might be a little
bit better place if we thought about others a lot more.
