Expensive Doesn't Mean Better
When
I was in beauty school I felt like what I was taught was written in stone, it
couldn't be changed, expensive was good and the products we used were the Holy
Grail. I spent thousands of dollars for instructors to tell me what to use
and how to use it. I really wasn't going to argue with what I was taught
because lets face it I had used certain products all through out my 1600 hours
of training and they're what I felt comfortable using.
It’s
thinking like this that made me a product snob for many years. It took a long
time before I realized that not everyone could afford certain products. Even
myself at times was trying to scrape together money just to buy my favorite
bottle of Dermalogica face wash.
I'm
older now and of course I know you should A. use what’s best for you and B. Get
what’s in your price range.
Which
brings me to the reason for this post. I get set in my ways and had been using
the same face wash for years. It wasn’t a life-changing product but it was my
old faithful. Until I started hearing about Black soap (or African Black soap).
I heard about it so often I had to research it and I'm really glad I did.
At
first sight it can be a bit off putting but when you learn about all of the
benefits including the cost you get past the looks real quick....
There
are claims that Black Soap is “good for thinning fine lines, evening out dark spots, eczema,
razor bumps and eliminating blemishes. It is also used to lightly exfoliate and
give you healthier looking skin. The soap can also be used on your body or hair
or for oily skin, dry skin, skin rashes, scalp irritations, body odors and is
good for sensitive skin.”
Black
Soap is all natural and made from the ash of locally harvested plants and barks
such a plantain, cocoa pods, palm tree leaves, and shea tree bark.
I
have never really had problem skin but I do have an oily t-zone. I started
using this soap in March. It comes in a bar like regular soap but I like to
break it and put it in a bottle of water, let it melt over night and use it as
a liquid. Within a few weeks I saw a big difference in not just oil reduction
but in the over all look and feel of my skin. After a month of using it my
husband (and we all know men don’t pay attention to much) complimented me on my
skin and said it looked “velvety soft”. That alone will have me using Black
soap for years to come. I purchase my soap from my local beauty supply store
and it runs me less than $3.00. However, I know that you can also get it online
from Coastal Scents and some other places.
Don’t
just take my word for it. Research it for yourself and let me know if you see a
difference after using it.
Couldn't agree with you more. Sometimes the cheapest products turn out to be the best ones.
