Retail Therapy and why it works for me
Retail Therapy: The act of shopping as an outlet for frustration and a reliever
of stress.
So
you’re in a bad mood. Your boss doesn’t appreciate your hard work, your spouse
is acting like a jackass or you’re just not feeling your best. What do you do?
A lot of people especially women have been known to take part in some “Retail
Therapy” but does that really work?
Damn
right it does! Well really I can’t speak for everyone I can only say what works
for me. Here’s a quick little story for you.
I
woke up in a bit of a bad mood this morning. In the midst of the attitude I was
having I hit the Internet and did some damage on the Urban Decay website. By
the time I was done I felt a helluva lot better.
Now
the reason for my bad mood hadn’t been fixed yet. However, I think I’m like
most women and I buy myself something nice because I deserve it. I am validating
my self worth.
There
is nothing wrong with spending money on yourself but you have to follow some
rules.
First,
make sure you don’t have any bills due. If all your bills are caught up then
awesome! Second, don’t spend more money than you should.
The
last thing you want to do is put yourself in debt over a bad mood.
So
the next time you’re feeling down treat yourself to something nice. If shopping
isn’t your thing then do something you do enjoy. It might just make you feel
better. I know it did for me.
Oh
and I’ll be sure to do an Urban Decay haul when my goodies come in the mail.
