Top 5 DIY Beauty Treatments
I’m not a
doctor nor am I a dermatologist but I’ve learned a lot from going to beauty
school as well as just researching things on my own. So I’m going to start off
by recommending you do your own research instead of just taking my word for
everything on this list. These are all things I do at home and have found work best
for me. Not everyone has the money to run to the spa all of the time so it’s nice
to find ways to save money and it’s also nice just to have a pamper night. My pamper
night is on Sunday. I dedicate the last couple hours of my Sunday to me and
only me. It gets me ready for the week ahead and helps me say goodbye to the
week past. I hope you enjoy my DIY
beauty tips and find a couple that help with any beauty dilemmas you may be
having.
Apple Cider Vinegar for Dandruff
It’s said that the acidity from ACV changes the PH balance
of your scalp there for it cures and prevents dandruff. As well as dry itchy
scalp. Most people recommend you mix equal amounts of ACV and water then apply
to your hair and scalp twice a week for worst-case scenario. I have found that
this regimen really works quite well. However, I use less water and more ACV depending on if I really need it. I’ve found that being pregnant has caused my
scalp to be extremely dry.
Almond Oil for Dry
Brittle Nails
Last Winter I was having some issues with my nails. They
were so dry they would just snap off. I am a BIG advocate of natural oils. I
found that Almond oil is rich in vitamins that nourish and moisturize. There
fore it’s good for the nails and hands. Once a week I remove my nail polish,
file my nails and rub the oil on my nails paying close attention to my
cuticles. Extra Virgin Olive oil is great for this too.
Brown Sugar Lip Scrub
This is a really common home remedy to moisturize, exfoliate
and soften your lips. You only need 3 ingredients for the most amazing lip
scrub EVER. Brown Sugar, Coconut Oil and Organic honey. Mix these 3 things
together until it’s to the consistency of your liking. You want to gently rub
the mixture over your lips. Once you’re done make sure you apply a moisturizing
lip balm. You only need very little. I personally make this in a small
container with a lid so that way I can save it for next time.
Grape Seed Oil
I have suffered with oily skin for quite some time now. I
have spent money on primers and special soaps only to find that they didn’t
have any long-term benefits. The soaps only cleansed my skin while the primers
only work for about 8 hours. So in my search of a way to get rid of my
embarrassing oily skin I came across the benefits of Grape Seed oil. It
contains astringent properties that tighten and tone the skin there for it
closes pores preventing oily skin. My main thought was “how is an oil going to
get rid of oil?” but I’ve been using it for the past 2 weeks and started seeing
results after only a few days. I apply a small amount to my face a few nights a
week after washing it before bed.
Mayo Hair Mask
When it comes to the pursuit of beautiful easy to manage
hair I’d like to think that I have tried just about every thing I’ve come
across. If it sounds crazy (but not damaging) I want to try it. One of the
stranger things I’ve heard of and actually really like is the Mayonnaise hair mask.
Mix full fat Mayo, a large egg and Extra Virgin Olive oil in a bowl then apply to
your hair and let it sit. I like to wear a shower cap while I have the mask on
my hair. Not only will this mask give
your hair a nice shine but also it adds moisture and protein.
